Free Legal Advice Group for Domestic Violence (FLAG DV)

This charity was set up in October 2012 and registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in October 2013.

They wanted to fill the gap left by the reduction in Legal Aid services. They are a small charity operating across the three counties of the Thames Valley; Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire.

They have 7 Trustees who oversee the management of FLAG DV and a small team of paid staff. Their advice clinics are run by lawyers who specialise in the field of family law and provide their time for free. They make no charge for our clinic appointments.

How do we work together?


T{h}onix works with FLAG DV on both an ongoing support and project basis covering their Salesforce CRM implementation and their Chatbot. 

Having designed, built and implemented their chatbot on the website we are now responsible for any day-day admin or support

Following the initial build of their Salesforce CRM by a partner, who sadly no longer operates, we now perform their day-day Salesforce admin role along with custom configuration and build, to support their growing organisation.  Projects usually consist of an initial discovery phase where we hold workshops internally to gather the true needs, followed by a quick R&D sprint to get a working prototype in a sandbox environment before moving into build and subsequent iterations.

Scope covers NPSP, Case and Program management and Experience Cloud development and maintenance.

Previous work

Flag DV really needed some direction on their entire IT real estate. Everything from physical equipment to email hosting to their website and client management systems.  Initially I worked with Flag DV on a pro bono basis on the following: 

  • Moved all their email and document management to GSuite
  • Video conferencing to help more frequent Trustee meetings 
  • Website - Creation of a functional spec, ITT and then interview with shortlist panel,  I then worked with the selected agency to hold a UX workshop to flesh out design and user stories
  • Client Management System - Due to the sensitive nature of the information processed by Flag DV we couldn't just use a standard CRM.  I carried out R&D and due diligence on a number of case management systems providing a recommendation and costings for presentation to the board.
